Statement of Calling to Ministry

I have been in church all my life but fell out of it in my teens because of the hypocritical views I had witnessed in my home church in rural SE Oklahoma. I received a transforming dose of grace from God in 2005 when I was about to make a decision that would wreck my life. I turned away from my life of infidelity, drugs, and hopelessness by begging God to show me his grace. From that point on, I turned away from everything I had been doing and rebuilt my relationship with God and my wife.

I have since, been blessed with a wonderful career in IT and my wife and I have built a huge family of children. With all of the blessings God’s grace has given me, I asked what He would have me do to serve… here am I, send me. He launched me into children’s’ ministry, discipleship classes, fine arts/media production, urban outreach ministries, youth chapels and other places where I share the Gospel with people I meet.

However, I felt that there might be more so I asked God to reveal that to me. I found him summoning me to actively pursue ministry on May 19, 2009. I asked God if ministry is where He wanted me to be and in my quiet time, I was drawn to Romans 9:17 “For this reason I raised you up ; so that I may deeply display my power in you, and that My name may be proclaimed in all the earth.” I couldn’t ask for a louder statement!

I pursued an M. Divinity from Liberty Theological Seminary but ultimately stopped because God had already given me other ministries to serve in. The fire in my heart to serve in the ministry has grown stronger each day with countless sermon ideas just coming from the Word as I read. All of these ideas were put to practice when I was called as a Youth Pastor for Agape Baptist Church and after I stepped down, I still use them in every aspect of my life.

I am, by no means, in this for monetary gain, my primary position pays me well and I am sure that if I needed to take a full time ministry position that God would provide for my needs there too. But as of now, he continues to place my family in places where we can be used to glorify His name and shine light into the darkness.
